Spicy, Roasted Garlic Hummus

Hummus is a savoury spread or dip, originating from Middle-East, made from chickpeas. You just need a few, simple, fresh ingredients to make my version. This Spicy, Roasted Garlic Hummus is so easy to make and is much better than the store-bought ones.

Materials

  • 2 cups White chickpeas cooked
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 Green chilli
  • 1/4 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 5-6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2-3 tbsp Cold water
  • 1 Lime juiced

Instructions

  • Heat butter in a pan. Roast garlic cloves in hot butter until fragrant and golden brown. Turn off the heat and keep aside.
  • Add chickpeas, salt, black pepper, red chilli powder, green chillies, olive oil, lime juice, water and roasted garlic to a high speed blender or food processor. Blend until you get a smooth mixture, stopping to scrape down the sides. Add more water if necessary.
  • Do a taste test, add more salt or lime juice for extra zing!
  • Scrape into a serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create a nice swoosh on the top. Garnish with olive oil, finely chopped green chillies and red chilli powder.
  • Serve on a charcuterie board with some crunchy veggies and crackers.

Notes

Store the leftover hummus in the fridge, in a sealed container for up to 1 week.
