Ingredients

  • 300 ml Condensed Milk
  • 3.5 cup Desiccated Coconut
  • 2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp Powdered Sugar

Optional

  • Food colouring
  • Pistachios
  • Cashews

Instructions

  • Pour condensed milk in a pan.
  • Add desiccated coconut to it. Mix until all the coconut is covered with condensed milk. It will form a crumbly mixture. Add milk, sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  • Do a taste test to check sugar. Add more if you would like.
  • Turn on the stove on low heat. Cook on low flame for 30 to 40 minutes, until the mixture starts to come together. Keep stirring continuously.
  • When the mixture is not sticking to the pan anymore, and comes together as a mass, turn off the stove.
  • Let it cool down for a few minutes.
  • Make ladoos while the mixture is still warm. They won't take the shape well if it is cooled down completely.
  • Separate out the amount that you would like to colour. Add a few drops of the food colouring, mix well. Form into ladoos while the mixture is still warm.
  • Add some desiccated coconut in a flat bowl or plate. Roll the ladoos in the desiccated coconut or use your favourite nuts for garnishing.

Notes

After cooking, the mixture should not be wet, but it should still be moist to form into into ladoos.
  1. If it's too wet, it is undercooked. Cook on low flame for a few more minutes and keep stirring continuously.
  2. If it is too dry, add a splash of milk while it is still hot. Mix well.

If the mixture is too crumbly and is not holding the shape, add a splash of milk, cook on low flame for a few more minutes and keep stirring continuously.
